Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1 — Delhi to Rishikesh (Overnight Journey)
Depart from Delhi at approximately 10:30 PM. Travel overnight by road towards the sacred Himalayan foothills. Settle in and rest as the journey unfolds through the northern plains under the stars.
Day 2 — Rishikesh to Guptkashi
Arrive in Rishikesh by 5:00 AM. After freshening up, depart for Guptkashi (7–8 hours). En route, witness the confluence of the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers at Devprayag — a sight of extraordinary spiritual significance. Stop at Srinagar for lunch and pick up any last-minute supplies. Continue through Rudraprayag and Ukhimath before checking into the hotel at Guptkashi for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3 — Guptkashi to Kedarnath Temple
After early breakfast, transfer to Gaurikund — the base camp for Kedarnath and a site believed to be where Lord Shiva declared his love for Goddess Parvati. Begin the 16 km trek to Kedarnath Temple (ponies and palanquins available for hire). Stop at Rambara for light refreshments. Reach the summit, complete darshan at the sacred Kedarnath Temple, and spend the night at Kedarnath.
Day 4 — Kedarnath to Chopta
Morning darshan at the temple, then trek back down to Gaurikund. Drive onwards to Chopta — known as the "Mini Switzerland of India" for its lush meadows and panoramic Himalayan views. Dinner and overnight stay at Chopta.
Day 5 — Chopta → Tungnath → Chandrashila → Joshimath
The highlight day of the trek. Begin the 6 km ascent to Tungnath — at 3,680 metres, the highest Shiva temple in the world and one of the Panch Kedars. Continue a few more kilometres to Chandrashila Peak for a breathtaking 180-degree panorama of Nanda Devi, Bandarpunch, Chaukhamba, and Kedar Peak. Descend to Chopta, then drive to Joshimath for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6 — Joshimath to Badrinath
Early morning drive to Badrinath — one of the holiest Char Dham pilgrimage sites. Complete darshan at the Badrinath Temple, then visit Mana Village, the last Indian settlement before the Tibetan border. Return to Joshimath for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7 — Joshimath to Rishikesh
After breakfast, drive back to Rishikesh along the scenic mountain roads. The journey takes approximately 8–9 hours with stops for meals and photo opportunities. Check into the hotel at Rishikesh for dinner and overnight stay.
